Happy Halloween from all of us here at Junk Bear! Is there anything better than Fall in New England? The answer to that, of course, is no! We love celebrating the season. And with only a few days left until Halloween, we thought we’d put together a list of Trick or Treat Safety Tips to keep your little ghosts and goblins safe!

Trick or Treat Safety Tips

  1. Only Trick or Treat in familiar neighborhoods and houses you know!
  2. Adults should always accompany kids while Trick or Treating. No one should ever Trick or Treat alone.
  3. Bright colored or reflective costumes are always a good idea. They make you more visible!
  4. Trick or Treat as early as possible to make the most out of daylight. Dangers increase while Trick or Treating at night.
  5. Make sure to carry a flashlight with you and use it when it gets dark!
  6. Motorists, be extra cautious while driving. Slow down, open your windows. Be alert, as little goblins can dart.
  7. Don’t eat candy until it has be inspected at home.
  8. Avoid costumes that are too long. They can be a tripping hazard.
  9. Be extra diligent and cautious while crossing the street.
  10. Don’t eat unwrapped candy.
  11. Be sure to read labels! The FDA suggests that you should read labels to ensure that the allergen is not present. Advise children not to eat anything that isn’t commercially wrapped.
  12. Finally, eat a snack before you head out for Trick or Treating. This will help you resist the temptation to eat treats before they have been inspected!
